Remove the cobwebs and dust off the blog

Let's give this another go because exciting things are in the future!

2015 was a rough year for me, but I'm working towards making 2016 better.  So in that vein, I'm going to do something very unusual for me.  I am not the kind of person to make resolutions, but I am going to aim to update this blog a minimum of once a month.  Yes, the bar is set very (very) low, but if I succeed that will be 12 more blog posts than last year.  Huzzah!

So, it's time break out the paintbrushes and carbide scrapers, fire up the heat gun, and pick up the dremel (and maybe even dig into some clay!)

Two Transformations - Part 2

Let's just forget the face that I can't count days to save my life.  It's tomorrow right?  :D

Here is my second victim....err...project!  Same as the first guy from yesterday's (ish) post, he was also originally for Blab's stablemate custom challenge.  He is currently even less done than the other!

He started life as a red roan...

And swiftly fell to pieces

This is way to much fun to be legal  XD

Reattach the important parts...

And I shall call him Stumpy
More wire since I lost the legs...

What?  Those are someone else's legs, I swear!

Taking a break, it's difficult pulling yourself back together!

Shifu the stalker

And finally getting ready to jump!  Shifu lends a helping head, err, hand.  No, head.

So lots of work left to be done on this guy.  Finishing the neck, adding muscles to the shoulders and haunches, legs (only semi important right?), he will be getting a totally new face, ears, mane and tail- braided of course, and then he'll be topped off in a luscious bay with a little bit of chrome.  The perfect A rated 4-foot hunter.

All you need is a little bit of magic..

Once again I blame the Blabbers.  I've fought with the other self hardening sculpts that most customizers use and generally had a dismal time trying to create anything.  Which is why I have not completed a piece in years.  Chopping is easy and fun, arguing with epoxy is not.  So, based on multiple good reviews for Magic Sculp(t) combined with actually seeing some of the results of first time users, I caved and bought some.

Shifu approves!

And the world rejoiced, for it was AWESOME.  What would have taken me days of sculpting, drying, removing, and repeating with my other sculpts took one sitting with Magic Sculp(t).  Once I stopped trying to work it like Apoxie Sculpt, I was off and flying.  I am completely floored by how easy it is to use and highly recommend it!

He's got a butt finally... ha!

In two sittings I managed to just about finish my jumpers tush, allowing time for one side to dry so I wouldn't squish it while working on the other.  I'm good like that.  No I don't have a pic of the other side sadly.  I just can not get my lighting and camera to cooperate.  I can actually see me finishing this guy within the year now.  Maybe.  It's only been five years or so since I started him.

And while waiting for him to dry I played around with more tail ideas in photoshop.  I think this was my favorite so far after my initial posting.  Who knows what I'm going to go with, I still have so much to do on the rest of him before really thinking on hair!  Of course, I also need to decide still if he will end up as an OOAK custom or if I still want to go ahead with a resin run.   Hrrmmm.

Flippy goodness

Best Idea EVER

I have a confession.  I am a terrible prepper.  It takes me months to do what good preppers do in a week.  I frequently prep, prinme, reprep, strip, prep again, etc.  Why?  Beacause I miss things like this.

Ok maybe not ones that bad, but I the dings, dents, holes, seams, I miss more than is reasonable.

And then one magical day in the end of February, I stumbled upon Prep School.  Braymere I can't even begin to tell you how much EASIER this has made my life and my only regret is not thinking of it sooner!  So I pulled out one of my most difficult resins and gave him the marker treatment.

Note Shifu the cute creeper in the corner.  XD

This isn't even all of the spots on him that need to be fixed, just the holes and divots and whatnots.  After I fix these my circle attack will be on the bumps and burrs.

Did I mention best idea ever?  Woot!!!

Another new face in the studio

If this guy from my last post is my muse, then this next figure must be my Studio Overlord.

It'll all be Nefertiti.. if you do it my way.

She's baaaaa-aaack.

Also known as I have the best friends in the world who get my ridiculous facsination with this particular DamnYouAutoCorrect entry.  Ok maybe they don't get it, but they are willing to pick up a Nefertiti bust for my birthday to amuse me.  XD

So together they sit, my cute muse and my overloard, watching me as I sleep.

Creepers.

Studio Muse!

Or maybe that should be Studio Cute?

Say it with me, "D'AWWWWWW!!"

Is he not completely adorable?  I saw this guy a while ago on the Windstone website and I just had to find one for myself.  This is the Fennec Fox; there are three more pebbles foxes in the works and of course now I need one of each of those when they come out too.  Yesh.  Oh!  And he needs a name!  Ideas?  XD

Think of this post as your daily dose of random.  Also of me procrastinating putting epoxy on the jumper.

EDIT:  Cute bugger up there now has a name!  Shifu after the master karate red panda in Kung Fu Panda.  Love the name and the movies!  Thanks Susan B Young and Kismet Lodge!  Cookies for you!
